Medical Insurance/Vision Plans/Pay Options

Insurance ImageAt Independence Family Eye Care, our goal is to promote good eye health and enable you to have the clearest vision possible. We accept several types of vision plans, medical insurance, cash, checks, and all major credit cards. We inform our Independence patients about exam and treatment costs at the beginning of your appointment. If you require a breakdown of costs, please let us know.

Vision Care Plan

The knowledgeable staff at Independence Family Eye Care is experienced in working with vision plan providers. We will work directly with you and your vision plan provider to submit claims regarding your vision care. We strive to ensure that you understand your plan coverage and will answer any questions you may have regarding your benefits. Many current vision plans are designed to contribute towards most of the basic vision-related costs, but not all costs associated with eye care. Most plans often require a co-payment for an office appointment as well as additional costs that are covered by the patient.

Contact our office at 816-461-6880 to find out if your vision plan is accepted in our office or for more information about your vision coverage. We are providers with VSP, EYEMED and other vision plans. We are also happy to help you submit claims to your vision plan if we are out of your network. Many vision plans have out of network benefits. Our out of network patents can pay for their services at the office and submit a claim to their vision plan provider to be reimbursed.

Medical Insurance

Many eye exams will be covered by medical insurance. Medical conditions such as diabetes, cataracts, macular degeneration, and ocular allergies will be filed with medical insurance first. We are providers with most commercial medical plans as well as Medicare. In this case, your vision plan will be filed secondary to your medical plan if you have both.We are providers with BCBS,Aetna, United Health Care, Medicare,TriCare and other medical plans.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Many employers are offering Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options to employees. Sometimes these are referred to as cafeteria plans and are elective, supplemental insurance savings plans. These plans are designed to let you save money in an account, pre-tax, to pay for additional medical expenses such as eye exams, glasses, contacts, and often laser vision surgery. Check with the benefits administrator at your work to see if you are eligible for this program. FSAs can typically be used in conjunction with any vision insurance plan to offset any out-of-pocket costs on your behalf.

Care Credit

We are providers with Care Credit. Care credit offers 6 months 0% financing on all purchases over $200.00 for health care expenses. If you do not have a Care Credit card, you can apply in the office. The application and approval usually takes less than 5 minutes.

Other Payment Options

Our Independence optometry staff understands that cost is a concern when evaluating vision care providers. We do not want cost to be an obstacle to maintaining proper eye health and good vision. We accept various forms of payment. Call 816-461-6880 today to schedule your eye exam today.
